Welcome! My name is Rebecca and I’m the Founder of Maine Mountain Doula Co. I am a Birth Doula & Postpartum Doula and Certified Yoga Instructor specializing in Pre & Post Natal Yoga.
I became a doula to directly support and empower birth givers and provide specialized, supportive & holistic care for individuals & families during the birth journey. I believe in equal opportunities in birth services, reproductive rights and empowerment through the pregnancy, birth & postpartum stages as well as comprehensive and consensual care. I understand the importance of continuous physical & emotional care during the birth process.
At MMD, I provide a variety of direct support for your personalized journey and specialize in prenatal, birth & postpartum doula support. I incorporate creative comfort measures including breathing techniques, yoga, movement, massage and additional healing elements in my care. I am available for doula services in Maine and provide remote support care services.

what is a doula?
Doulas provide continuous emotional, physical and informational care. Doula care includes educational support, resources and advocacy. Doulas are trained and experienced in pregnancy, labor & childbirth and well as supportive prenatal & postpartum care. The word "doula" comes from ancient Greek, meaning "woman's servant." Doulas can support the family and/or partner to become involved in the birth.
what are the statistics?
Statically, the presence of a doulas results in shorter labors with few complications.
reduces negative feelings about one's childbirth experience
reduces the need for pitocin (a labor-inducing drug), forceps or vacuum extraction
reduces the requests for pain medication and epidurals, as well as the incidence of cesareans
what is not in a doula scope of practice?
Doulas do not make decisions for clients or intervene in clinical care. Doulas do not does not provide any medical services, diagnoses or treatments. Care is non-medical and doulas provide emotional, physical & educational support. No information or care should replace any medical advice by a licensed healthcare professional.
How can i afford a doula?
Doulas can offer payment plans or reduced fees for families. Reduced fees are available for training services.
